Episode 30: World Nomad Games
The first question you will have is “Why is that horse on fire?”. Well the horse is not, the rider is. The second question is “Why is that rider on fire?”. For answers to that and maybe one or two more questions, tune in!
The World Nomad games were spearheaded by former Kyrgyzstani president Almazbek Atambayev and the Kyrgyzstan government. The goal was for the revival and preservation of the culture of nomadic civilization and to highlight ethnic sports practiced in Central Asia.
The sports are both unusual regional sports as well as more traditional ones like archery. Of course we are here to talk about the unusual. Unusual at least to us, the humble RoShamBo staff. The sports range from intellectual games, to hunting with cool animals, to a game that involves a goat corpse. Also, wrestling. A lot of wrestling.
There are a lot of really interesting bits in this episode, so join us for a cultural journey to Central Asia!
