Back when outdoor plumbing was outlawed in Virginia City, angry residents took to the streets with their outhouses in protest, and a tradition was born. What started as a protest has turned into a competition with teams designing outhouse in a variety of themes, wearing costumes and competing for glory. This year will be the 30th annual Virginia City Outhouse Race and Kim talked to Katy Demuth - the Marketing Manager for the Virginia City Tourism Commission about the shenanigans.
We also found out that Outhouse Racing is not a Virginia City only event! There are quite a few places across America that take part in some form of the tradition including races in Michigan, Alaska and North Carolina.
